About Us

Anchorage adult treatment services are based on the experience and research which indicates that chemical dependency and mental health disorders are chronic, primary and progressive illnesses, which cannot be cured.  It is our belief that having co-occurring disorders is not an identity.  That those who suffer can be helped by abstinence from mood altering chemical, changing one’s lifestyle, developing a clear understanding of the relationship between their addictive and mental health issues, and developing more effective coping mechanisms in mind, body and spirit.  Treatment provides an opportunity for the client to discover and use the resources within themselves, and in their respective communities.  The atmosphere and professional guidance assists in the process.  Anchorage does not support a confrontational approach to treatment of co-occurring disorders.  Treatment, based upon years of research and anecdotal evidence supports the principles of community based support groups such as, AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) and NA (Narcotics Anonymous) and dual recovery groups.  Process group and individual/family therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and other therapeutic modalities, that are appropriate for each client.

Anchorage is a ten bed extended care facility which serves males and females. The focus of the Extended Care program is on the 12 Steps, the disease concept, identifying symptoms, examining their chemical use, the consequences of their use, taking responsibility for actions, learning new coping skills, establishing and reaching goals, decision making and education on Mental Illness and its connection with addiction.

Clients attend weekly Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous/AA Alternatives meetings and are encouraged to obtain a sponsor. Family members are encouraged to participate in the Multiple Family groups on Mondays from *6:15-8:00PM. Family involvement assists the client in developing a support system. (* time & day subject to change so make sure to call prior to coming to group).

Staff includes Licensed Addiction Counselors, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, a Registered Nurse, Medical Director, Licensed Dietary staff and Residential Technicians. The program's length of stay is based on each client's individual needs and is typically 30 to 90 days.
