Mission Statement

GRH mission is to provide board and lodging with or without special services, free of drugs and alcohol, to chemically dependent, mentally ill, and/or dual diagnosed adults.  This is accomplished through moderate supervision, household guidelines, and a structured environment.  GRH is considered a therapeutic facility which is part of the social network in Moorhead, Minnesota.  Although, Safe Harbour and Lighthouse provides no system of programming on site, it is the goal to make all attempts to assist individuals in their programming as feasibly necessary.

Board and Lodge - Defined

GRH is a board and lodge facility, with or without special services.  Safe Harbour and Lighthouse programs are licensed as a Board and Lodge through the City of Moorhead.  As documented in the Minnesota Statutes Chapter 157, Safe Harbour and Lighthouse are qualified as a Board and Lodge because food, beverage, and boarding are provided.  Provided in the living quarters are fully furnished bedrooms, with necessary items needed for daily living.  Safe Harbour and Lighthouse provides furniture, cookware, bed/bedding, dressers, TV (for use by all residents), laundry facilities, cleaning supplies, and other provisions for daily living.

Special Services – Defined

Safe Harbour and Lighthouse have a Special Services license, which is renewed annually through the State of Minnesota, Department of Health.  Minnesota Statutes, section 157.17, subd.2, requires that a boarding and lodging establishment or a lodging establishment that provides supportive services or health supervision services must register with the commissioner of health.  Supportive services are defined as: arranging for meetings and appointments, assisting with transportation, providing social and recreational opportunities, arranging for medical and social services, reminding residents to take medications that are self-administered, and providing storage for medications when requested and for all controlled medications. Residents are responsible to get their medication from staff.
